Seeking upright & electric bass for TC indie rock band.

Established Twin Cities group is seeking an experienced, well-rounded, motivated, and committed bassist to join version 2.0 of our band. We are seeking someone who plays both upright and electric bass. Cello or additional instruments preferred.

Our musical style is indie rock, and we are moving toward a flavor with Eastern and Spanish world music influences. We are percussion, acoustic-classical guitar, electric guitar, keys/synth, violin, accordion, and vocals.

Your attitude, philosophy, and musical sensibility are key to making you the right fit for our band.

Attitude: seeking someone who is motivated, enthusiastic, balanced, committed, but also able to kick back. Must be able to practice at least once a week and be willing and able to perform one to two times per month.

Philosophy: we all have day jobs. We are seeking someone in it for the creative and performance outlet, not the money.

Musical sensibility: diverse musical background desired. Our evolving style is in the vein of Devotchka, Calexico, and Arcade Fire. We are looking for someone willing to take stylistic direction on the bass lines, but also collaborate and bring their own creative ideas.

Additional info you might want to know:

Age: 21+ (current band members are between 26-39)
Location: twin cities metro resident preferred. We have a practice space and fully equipped in-home studio in NW Metro.

We are looking to collaborate with you to record and release a full-length CD in 2009. Following the CD release, we will perform 1-2 times per month. Several original new songs have already been written, but we are looking for the right person with similar musical style to bring their creative touch to the bass lines.

Thank you!
