Figure we could try this out again, although I am not sure anyone is even here anymore.

LOVING the hell out of:
Beach House Teen Dream (would have probably been in my top 3 of 2009 honestly) Retribution Gospel Choir 2 (blows the first album to pieces) Eels End Times (huge step up from Hombre Lobo, maybe one of his best actually) Title Tracks It Was Easy (as good if not better than Georgie James) Pretty damn good: Yeasayer Odd Blood (it's on the cusp of loving it, but a few tracks don't do it for me) Spoon Transference (liking it more than Gax5 already, and almost as much as Gimme Fiction. harkens back to their earlier (and better) records at times (see: Trouble Comes Runnin') Broken Bells Broken Bells (not a GREAT record, but a very fun/chill album that i easily enjoy 10x more than the last Shins album) Decent: Vampire Weekend Contra (not as fun/energetic as the debut... certainly a more refined sound. i think they played it a bit safe, but all in all not a bad record)Not digging at all: Not digging at all: Midlake The Courage of Others (certainly pretty/gorgeous, but SOOOO boring/monotonous) |

Haven't heard much new stuff from 2010 yet, but Beach House is definitely the best I've heard so far.

The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night
holy mother of god. now i loved their last record from '07 a ton, but this is WAY more impressive and ambitious. Beach House might just have some competition... |

i've only listened to it 4-5x so far, but it's def superior to Dark Horse for me (which was in my top 10 of 2007)
Chicago Train nearly had me in tears the first time i heard it. i repeated that song 3-4x the first time i listened to the album. |

Agree that Beach House rules and Vampire Weekend sucks. I have hardly heard anything else brand new yet. I have only just heard Yeasayer once or so and wasn't crazy about my first impression.
Am really looking forward to hearing more from British band Let's Wrestle - they have an album in March I think and I like what I have heard so far even if it is extremely derivative |

the new Yeasayer is pretty good, but ALL over the place...
super 80's vibe. i don't love the first song really, but ONE is a mindfuck. |
