Of (or going into) the 21st century? IE Who is the most important band in the world right now?
Why? (I reeeeeeeally hope everyone doesn't come in saying radiohead--no offense to radiohead.) |

I'm sorry, but based on the long-tail effects of Kid A/Amnesiac's no-guitar rock and their pioneering plans to release singles online instead of albums in the future, I think Radiohead rank right up there in both global musical and global industry impact.

really depends on their new album, but i honestly think Radiohead might be kinda on their way down from the top as of late... (granted i didn't think all that much of Kid A/Amnesiac personally, at least not compared to The Bends & OKC). and while i enjoyed Thief for the most part, and it was a bit of a return to form at least in my eyes/interest level, it still wasn't that amazing really. I will say that Thom's solo record, while it has some enjoyable tracks, definitely shows how much he needs the band though.
i don't really think there's any one band right now that really deserves that accolade, more of a collection of a few diff bands. |

Electric Six
Because they are incredibly entertaining? Of this century, meaning post 2000? Bands have such short shelf lives these days, it's hard to say. Not that longevity necessarily means good. That whole Arctic Monkeys phenomenon was pretty impressive, but that hardly makes them the most important band in the world right now. I don't know? I still think the White Stripes are pretty cool. |

It saddens me to admit, it still might be jack white.
I was really unhappy to see him doing this shit http://youtube.com/watch?v=oWoLu_Hvbbw I would say Jack White, Bad Plus, Radiohead and it still might be dylan.... http://www.newsalerts.com/news/artic...l:top13:772168 one could make a case for the mars volta I guess, but I couldn't. Not could I for Wilco. |

while i love Jack, in all honesty, the state of rock music is pretty dire if that's the case...
few years ago i'd maybe agree w/ Wilco, but not after AGIB (a great album still, but...) as for The Mars Volta... lmfao |

i should say "mainstream rock music", cuz there's plenty of smaller bands that more than float my boat these days
and i'll just throw it out there, why not? Arcade Fire |

What about The Dears? I know they have a huge bent (maybe too much so) toward The Smiths but...just throwing it out there.
