Their CD Release bill may have been cursed by multiple band cancellations due to scheduling issues and illness, but, no matter; like The Dude, Kruddler abides. (Neither Rank Strangers nor Crossing Guards were able to play the show advertised and were replaced at the last minute.) Kruddler still held court from the Turf Club stage with a headlining show Friday, February 1st, to celebrate the release of their CD Awesome Shoot ‘Em-Up Love, and I was there to capture this photo of Kruddler vocalist/guitarist Shane Gallivan.
Kruddler’s been putting out a new disc every year or so for the 50 odd years of their existence. (Okay, it hasn’t been that long, but you could spend days listing the bands that have come and gone since the day they were born – Kruddler was formed by Shane Gallivan (vocals/guitar) and Tim Baumgart (drums) in 1995.
Tony Zaccardi (also now of Romantica) joined the band in 2001, and Brian O’Neil (Big Ditch Road) joined up prior to recording of the latest disc and has been contributing pedal steel to their sound.
The band’s new album gets its name from a particularly bizarre mis-hearing of “Pour Some Sugar On Me” by Def Leppard. Don’t ask. (Though Tony Zaccardi may just tell you the story if you do.)
