7/9/2006 Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum at the Taste of MN

There's no doubt that it's been a rough few years for Minneapolis favorites Soul Asylum. After the loss of beloved bass player Karl Mueller, the band has struggled to continue making music and playing live shows with the same spirit they once shared with each other and Mueller.

The 2006 summer has been an exciting time for SA, though, with their first album in 8 years, The Silver Lining, due out on July 11 and shows scheduled throughout the summer.

Local amatuer photographer Stacy Sandstrom caught Soul Asylum as they came through town last week for the Taste of Minnesota and snapped this shot of Dave Pirner mid-guitar solo. If the reports flying in about their energetic and tight set are accurate, it sounds like Soul Asylum is back in full force and ready for more.
