1/7/2009 Ben Weaver at the Turf Club

Many people, including yours truly, counted Ben Weaver’s The Ax in the Oak, his first release for Bloodshot Records, among the best albums by Minnesota musicians to be released in 2008. (Check out the number of times it appears in the recent Twin Cities Critics Tally published by the Star Tribune.)  If you haven’t picked it up yet, please give it another listen now. It’s one of Weaver’s most diverse releases to date and is full of literate songs that operate on multiple levels and grow on you with repeated listens.
