2/18/2009 Mark Olson and Gary Louris at MPR

On Groundhog’s Day, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow heralding six more weeks of winter, and a lucky few people crowded into a studio at Minnesota Public Radio saw Gary Louris and Mark Olson play an intimate set of music heralding the debut of their first album together outside of the now on indefinite hiatus Jayhawks. Ready for the Flood was released January 27^th on New West Records.

 

Olson left the Jayhawks in 1995, so this is a big deal for Jayhawks fans, many of whom have had this new album on auto-repeat in their players since the day it came out.

Photographer Alexa Jones was one of the lucky few in the audience at the MPR show and submitted this photo for this week’s Photo of the Week.
