4/8/2009 Slim Dunlap at Palmer's Bar
Last Thursday night, in the back corner of Palmer’s (one of Minneapolis’ best unassuming dive bars) on a tiny elevated stage reminiscent of a vintage fortune-teller carnival machine surrounded with long drapes and awash in red light, legendary guitarist and singer-songwriter Bob ‘Slim’ Dunlap played an intimate performance to an attentive crowd. Slim owned the room, and you could see both the reverence and delight in the eyes of more than a few people as they took in the experience, immersed in the magic of another Thursday night in Minneapolis.

This Thursday (4/9) Slim Dunlap joins Jim Walsh, Mother Banjo, Thomas Kivi, Stacy Halter, MJ Kroll and others for the 15th Mad Ripple Hootenanny of 2009 at the Beat Coffeehouse. As usual, tune in to HowWasTheShow.com Live tomorrow at 6:30pm for a live webcast, or check the site later for a podcast version of the evening’s music.
