Dear Reader,
If you've stumbled into this corner of the website, you're looking for information on me. I'm flattered. A fair amount of effort goes into the reviews, and if after reading one you've come looking for information about the author... well... that's not an entirely meaningless gesture at least not to me.
Here then, is all you need to know:
I was born in a dirty river town during the winter of 1975. The hospital was across the street from my grandfather's bowling alley, twenty miles northwest of downtown Minneapolis and twenty years behind in taste. The town is a little different now.
After high school I eventually drifted to a small town in the southwest corner of Minnesota. There wasn't a building on Main Street that you couldn't hit a baseball over. At the edge of town there is a state college, and after that a sea of cornfields. Late at night, if the skies were clear, the radio would pick up a scratchy signal playing rock 'n roll out of St. Louis.
From there I moved to St. Paul to work in plastics with my other grandfather. Things didn't work out. The plastic business is tough shit. St. Paul was nice though. Something about that side of the river still speaks to me. It was a fine place to call home for eight years.
I now live comfortably in a fortified compound in South Minneapolis where I pass judgement on local bands. I am grateful to How Was The Show for the opportunity, and to you, the reader, for reading my reviews. It's a weird feeling to see your words in public... I highly recommend it.
Sincerely,
Charlie Vaughan
