Adam Levy of the Honeydogs at the Jennefit

Twin Cities bands and music fans came together at the Turf Club in St. Paul Friday night for the aptly titled “Jennefit” to help one of the Twin Cities best-loved photographers, Jenn Barnett, raise money to replace a broken camera. Barnett, in case you did not know, is responsible for the photos in all of the HowWasTheShow headers on this site and has been an invaluable contributor of music photography over the past two years.

The Honeydogs, The Mad Ripple (Jim Walsh), Jeremy Ylvisaker, Erik Koskinen, Ryan Paul and Ashleigh Still, all bands and musicians who have been photographed copiously by Barnett, played sets in support of the event, and in the crowd the feeling was definitely that of a party as much as a music show. Guests drank liberally right up until the music ended and lights went on at 2 a.m.

The event was named by Elli Rader, who along with Kate O’Reilly organized and promoted the event with a massive internet campaign. O’Reilly said, “Elli and I are overwhelmingly impressed with the community that we have here and how they much they rocked and rallied in the last few weeks to make it a success.  There’s a spirit that came out during the final planning and anticipation stages that everyone witnessed; it was undeniable.”

Several Twin Cities photographers were also on hand to show their support, including Tony Nelson (who also plays guitar in the Mad Ripple), Meredith Westin and Erik Hess. This week’s photo of the week is a photo Hess sent us of Adam Levy of the Honeydogs during their spot on the Jennefit bill at just after midnight.
